5 things about Mrs. Bennett
- I have wanted to teach since I was a young child. My brother had dyslexia, and the school he was attending didn’t know how to support him. I would help him do homework, study, and practice reading, and I knew I would do this for the rest of my life.
- Teaching English allows students to find themselves and understand others through stories. English fosters creativity, curiosity, and evidence-based learning, which I believe is the most important skill public education could teach a child.
- If I weren’t a teacher, I would work in the mental health field in some capacity. I have a soft spot for those who are navigating a battle within themselves.
- I attended Sam Houston State University as an English major with a minor in Secondary Education.
- Willis High School strives to shape students’ futures through the core curriculum and its CTE program. Growing up, trade and career were not valued over college readiness. I knew in 2017 that I wanted to be a part of the legacy of WHS.
