Two million federal employees are left with no pay after the government shutdown on October 1st 2025. It has currently been 34 days since the government shutdown. The shutdown cut off funding for government programs such as the TSA (Transportation Security Administration), SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), WIC (Women, Infants and Children), funding for early learning programs, home loans, LIHEAP ( Low income home energy assistance program), veteran affairs and immigration. People are struggling while the government is arguing about disagreements over federal spending levels.
This madness needs to end! So individuals will be able to provide for themselves and their loved ones.
Worldwide people are starving. Elders, adults, children, and even infants are left with no food after the government shut down which caused the program SNAP to not get any federal funding. SNAP was helping over 42 million people get food before the government shutdown. This problem is happening all over the world and even locally, Montgomery already has over 100,000 individuals who are struggling to find food. Another program called WIC has also lost its funding, this program helped support pregnant women to get proper nutrition, education for childcare, and breastfeeding support. The president builds a new ballroom in the white house, while U.S citizens are left helpless and hungry. How can this truly be acceptable?

Food and nurturing programs are just a few of the many programs that have been close to being shut down. LIHEAP, home loans, TSA have all been drastically challenged. Families are struggling to make it home for the holidays due to exceedingly long TSA lines. In Bush Intercontinental they are warning of a three hour wait time, and in Hobby they are warning a 60 minute wait time because of low security staff. During the 35 day shutdown 100 TSA employees called in sick because of no pay. As the holidays approach some won’t be able to make it home to celebrate with loved ones.
“Democrats are opposing spending cuts to governmental agencies” some would counter argue. Truthfully whether it’s the Democrats fault or Republicans people need to fix the problem at hand. Individuals are struggling everywhere to find food, afford a house and even come home for the holidays. Politicians need to stop blaming each other but figure out a solution to this madness because citizens are living helplessly alone.
