It seems like high school students are forced to consider college after graduation. A strong influence has students believing that a four-year college and a degree is the only way to be successful. With so much emphasis on college, students who can’t afford college or who struggle academically sometimes get overlooked and do not receive the same guidance and attention.Â
Success after high school is not dependent on a traditional college four-year degree.
Skilled workers like plumbers, electricians, welders, drillers, and more are essential to this economy. Without these people, business executives would not be able to successfully manage their business alone. Without plumbers we would not have running water or flushing toilets which are very important. Yet this type of a career is very underlooked by people. Students are often looked down on for considering if they should even go to college.Â
Some people say college is very important because it can help your career a lot no matter what you do. There are a lot of careers that require a college degree, however if you don’t want to go to college you don’t have to. Most students who are planning to attend college already have a path or idea in their mind. It’s the students that don’t know what they want to do that need the most help to learn about these options and choose what’s the best for them and become productive and live a good life.
Students who are not planning to go to college deserve the same attention as anyone else who has a good career in mind. Allowing students to get experience, and showing them other paths besides college would give them a better idea of what the future could hold for them and let them see what life could be like after graduation. Â
