Hot cocoa with white small yummy marshmallows. Balloon animals and Christmas toys. The chilly weather and small kids running around in their jackets. Getting their face painted and decorating ornaments.
Christmas in the Barn brings the community together for holiday fun. The CTE building was full of spirit for the annual event on Friday, Dec. 5.
“I was very excited for Christmas in the barn,” junior Faith Matheson said. “I think it will be a great opportunity to give back to the community and bring everyone together.”
With many activities at Christmas in the barn, kids and students have many things to look forward to.
“I was most excited to be around all of my friends,” junior Amy Gonzales, “I was also really excited to see all of the animals.”
As kids look around they can stop by DECA and get a cup of marshmallows with hot cocoa while they play a game.
“I volunteered to help out at Christmas in the Barn for DECA,” junior Evelyn Correa said. “We had a fun game for the kids so I was really excited about that and some of the DECA members will give out hot cocoa.”
As kids get their game price and hot cocoa from DECA they can stop by HOSA and get an ornament which they decorate themselves.
“I am in HOSA and for Christmas in the Barn we helped people who came to our station,” senior Lenzo Toreja said. “We helped them paint and decorate an ornament.”
An addition to the fun games and activities, students are bringing in toys as gifts for the children.
“Yes I brought a toy; I brought a Barbie doll.” junior Janessa Salinas said. “I wanted to bring a toy since it is going out to the kids.”
With students bringing in toys, people are also able to bid on items.
“I wasn’t aware there was gonna be a bidding event,” junior Sara Castro said. “But I am very excited to see the kids have a good time and get a present.”
