The new Southern gothic thriller, The Devil All the Time based on the 2012 novel by Donald Ray Pollock, is a Netflix film that is sure to make you feel a plethora of emotions. Released just last week, this movie has a loaded cast full of familiar faces like It’s Bill Skarsgård, Harry Potter’s Harry Melling and Robert Pattinson, Avengers Endgame’s Sebastian Stan and Tom Holland and many other renowned actors like Mia Wasikowska, Riley Keough and Jason Clarke.  The rated R film starts off, post WWII when Willard Russell (Bill Skarsgård) returns home, marries and has a son, Arvin Russell(Tom Holland).

Holland tells Netflix Film Club, that he was attracted to the roll because “I would be pushing myself in ways I haven’t before and people associate me with Spider-Man at this time in my life, so for me it’s been really exciting to dive into something new and fresh and hopefully audience disconnect from the Spider-Man world and dive into this world that is Devil All the Time.”

The movie presents the traumatic effects that WWII took on soldiers, the old fire and brimstone teachings of the Southern churches in the early 60’s, the deceit of the police force and the dangers of hitch hiking. With multiple story lines and many shocking twists and turns, this show depicts the graphic upbringing of a very aggressive and angry Arvin and how he uses the things his father taught him to keep the corrupt and the vile from going unpunished.
